Tabitha’s obsession with fish has displaced all of her human relationships with the exception of her mother, Eloise. When her pet fish Peter and her mother both die unexpectedly, after contacting Tabitha’s hands, she concludes that her touch is lethal and begins wearing latex gloves. Only when working in a new job in taxidermy does she venture to remove her gloves and touch once more.
