Phoebe Owens - "Tammytown", Writer/Director/Producer

Phoebe Owens lives and works in Portland, Oregon where she grew up until she was thirteen and moved to a strip mall town on the I-5 corridor by Tacoma.  She learned to wear tight jeans, drink wine coolers and to have the biggest hair on the blocks that she rocked.  Fifteen years later, Owens rallied the support of artists and businesses in Olympia, WA (where she lived for nine years) and returned to her own high school in Tacoma to shoot her first feature, “TammyTown”.  The 83-minute comedy is based on her teen years in the late 1980's, and followed her directorial debut of the award-winning documentary short entitled “Stitch”.

Ownens graduated from The Evergreen State College where she developed a passion for animation and optical printing and won the Women In Film/Seattle 1998 student award.  Owens is currently looking forward to developing a new short film with “TammyTown” producer Liz Sales to commence shooting in Summer 2008.
