Sally Plourde is a co-founder and organizer of the IndiePix project. She serves as the Corporate Treasurer for the Independent Film Development Group, and in that capacity oversees the financial and administrative operations of the company.
Sally joined Alexander & Associates in the mid-1980s in the consulting group. She was responsible for developing the Interactive Entertainment series of conferences that the firm ran during the mid 1990s. The conferences featured important keynote speakers, including Isaac Asimov among others, and in depth seminars on new developments and approaches to entertainment through technology. Trip Hawkins described his 3DO project at one of these conferences, and 3DO sponsored events related to the conferences.
As part of the conference program, Sally organized the Interactive Entertainment Newsletter, an influential newsletter on early developments in this industry. The newsletter tracked the platform changes in the video game market from 8 to 16 to 32 bit machines, observed and analyzed immersive 3D technologies, and commented on cable's claims to interactive programming leadership. The Interactive Entertainment Newsletter was sold to Baskerville publications.
Sally co-founded the Island Video Group, Ltd with a group of international investors. Island Video is a chain of 9 video rental stores in 4 Caribbean islands representing 3 different nationalities - the US Commonwealth (encompassing the Virgin Islands), the British Commonwealth (encompassing Tortola), and the Netherlands Antilles (encompassing St. Maarten). As the Chief Operating Officer of Island Video of New York, Inc., she oversees the ordering of DVDs and video tapes for the stores, oversees store inventories, manages vendor relations and consults on legal and organizational issues. Under Sally's direction, the stores have developed a unique selection of Caribbean and other special titles appropriate to these markets.
As part of the IndiePix team, Sally has supervised the development and maintenance of the catalog. In addition, she manages the customer relations and communications effort, including supervising the transactions process and the regular customer newsletters. |
