1. What is Download-to-Own?
“Download-to-Own" is a new concept in DVD delivery and ownership.  You receive a DVD over the internet, written on your computer’s DVD-writer that lets you see the film you own the way the filmmaker wanted you to see it, whereever and however you watch your DVDs.

2. How does it work?
Quite simply, IndiePix provides you a download manager call the IndiePix Disc Factory for free.  When you buy a download title from IndiePix, the Disc Factory takes over, downloads the files and writes the DVD on your DVD-writer.  There are many checks and helps built in to make sure this is a simple and satisfying experience for you.

3.What makes IndiePix different from all the other so-called download websites out there?
IndiePix is the only place you can get a true DVD, fully the equivalent of a store bought DVD, via your Mac or your PC, that includes the PixelTools watermarking technology.  You get full, home theater quality video and audio that you can play wherever you watch your DVDs.  And through the business model enabled by watermarking, you know that more than half the purchase price of your download is going directly to the filmmaker.

4. I have been to sites like CinemaNow, Vongo, and Movielink, but they are not compatible with my Apple computer. What's going on?
IndiePix owns and developed the first multi-platform download capability that works with Mac and PC computers.  And check here soon for our announcement of a Linux platform version!  In our system, you receive and own the DVD as though you had been to the mall to get one.  With those other systems you named, which implement a “download to view” opportunity, the video file is restricted in many ways, including being tied to the computer that downloaded it.  The DVD you write is yours to take with you!

5. If I had an Apple "iTV", I could show the download file directly on my Home Theater. Can you do that?
IndiePix will support the Apple “iTV” capability as it becomes more available in the market.  We support the delivery of the work of independent filmmakers in the highest quality formats to the highest quality display systems in the presentation that the filmmaker wanted you to see his or her work.  The IndiePix Disc Factory will be able to assemble a file that you can play from your PC through Apple’s “iTV”.

6. Some of these other sites leave giant files on my computer and don’t allow me to create a DVD except to archive, what is the difference with IndiePix?
We deliver a complete DVD through the IndiePix Disc Factory – a DVD with menus, chapters, “DVD Extras” and other files prepared by the filmmaker for your enjoyment.  You get the DVD.  When the files are successfully written through your DVD writer, the computer files are no longer necessary and they will be erased.

7. How long does it take to download a film?
The IndiePix file we deliver you is the highest quality DVD file available.  Depending on your download speed and your connection, a 20 minute short film could be ready to watch in 20 minutes!  Some services boast fast download speeds by compromising the quality of the video and audio they deliver.  Some accelerated downloads require very lengthy rebuilding steps that double the start to finish time.  We don’t do that!

8. Once I burn the DVD, what if I want to share it?
If you normally share other things you own with your friends and family, why shouldn’t you be able to share your discovery of a great independent film with them.  That’s what we mean by “Download To Own”!  We don’t approve of inappropriate copying of the filmmaker’s work, however, and we have included the PixelTools “MPEG Escort” on each download to identify the disc as yours.  Inappropriate copying that denies the filmmaker the opportunity to earn a living from his work can be quickly identified from this watermark.
